Consistency - Move some dirt

What’s the most important thing you can do for your training? ⁣ ⁣ Lift heavy shit? ⁣ Protein at every meal? ⁣ Fasted cardio? ⁣ ⁣ Nope. ⁣ ⁣ The not-so-sexy answer is...⁣ ⁣ Consistency. ⁣ ⁣ Nothing trumps consistency in your training. ⁣ ⁣ When it comes to training, I like to use the analogy of digging a hole. ⁣ ⁣ Your aim in training is to progress as far as you can in a chosen area such as performance, fat loss, muscle growth etc. ⁣ ⁣ Or in this analogy...⁣ ⁣ To dig the hole as deep as you can. ⁣ ⁣ Each training day you go in and you move some dirt. ⁣ ⁣ Some days you’re going to feel awesome. On these days you’re lifting heavy, moving fast, you feel invincible. These days feel like you’re moving the dirt with a tractor. ⁣ ⁣ Some days you’re going to feel average. Not bad, not great, just okay. In the world we live in with work, sports and other stresses, most days are going to feel like this. These days you’re moving the dirt with a shovel. ⁣ ⁣ And some days you’re going to feel like pure shit. You might of had a restless night of sleep, you might be fighting with your partner or working overtime and it’s stressing you out. You feel flat and the last thing you want to do is train. These days you’re moving the dirt with a spoon. ⁣ ⁣ We’re all going to have good days. ⁣ ⁣ We’re all going to have bad days. ⁣ ⁣ You might have a good run where you feel like you can move that dirt with the tractor for multiple days in a row. ⁣ ⁣ Sometimes you’ll get yourself in a rut and it’ll feel like you’re moving nowhere - shovelling that dirt with a spoon. ⁣ ⁣ The most important thing you can do, regardless of how you feel, is to move the dirt. ⁣ ⁣ Anyone can get to the gym when they’re on top of the world. Anyone can work hard when they’re fresh. But the most important sessions to do are the ones you don’t want to.⁣ ⁣ Keep this in mind coming into the winter months when the mornings are getting colder and the bed starts feeling warmer. ⁣ ⁣ Whether it’s a ‘spoon’ kind of day and you just go for a light run or a little stretch. Or it’s a ‘tractor’ day and you’re hitting PB’s. ⁣ ⁣ Regardless of how you feel - just move some dirt. #one22
