'Have To' vs 'Get To'

Next time you catch yourself saying ‘I have to...’ instead, try replacing it with ‘I get to...’ ⁣ ⁣ Really think on that and see what changes that can make to your mental state. By rephrasing that sentence you instantly take an opportunistic view towards a scenario rather than seeing it as a chore. ⁣ ⁣ ‘I have to go to the gym’ ⁣ Becomes ‘My body has the capacity to exercise so I get to go to the gym’ ⁣ ⁣ ‘I have to eat these vegetables’ ⁣ Becomes ‘I understand that nutritious food is important so I get to eat these vegetables’ ⁣ ⁣ ‘I have to run my kids around to all of their sport’ ⁣ Becomes ‘I am fortunate enough to have children so I get to run my kids around to their sport’ ⁣ ⁣ ‘I have to do so much study’ ⁣ Becomes ‘I’m choosing to educate myself so I get to do so much study’ ⁣ ⁣ As an adult, there’s really nothing that you have to do. You make decisions based on what you want. There’s very rarely a gun pointed at your head. ⁣ ⁣ The examples are everywhere. ⁣ The difficulty comes in choosing to rephrase in the moment. When you’re frustrated and things aren’t going your way, can you still see the opportunity in everything? ⁣ ⁣ #one22
